About me
Marshall Burns holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Currently, he works for the Blind Children’s Vocational Discovery and Development Program as a program coordinator. In this role Mr. Burns assists with training new hires to work with children and families across the state and assists with ensuring that children and families are receiving quality services through BCP. He has a unique perspective that he brings to his work, growing up blind on a small farm in Seguin, Texas before moving to Corpus Christi for college. He was born blind due the Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. For over a decade, Mr. Burns has worked to advocate for people with disabilities including serving on boards and committees with the Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living and the Coalition for People with Disabilities. His professional experience is broad and includes working with people with disabilities to access public transportation and providing direct services to those with disabilities. He is also skilled in community and program development.
